I just want to take a moment and say that I am a huge procrastinator. I have been writing my novel since October 2012 (a long time, I know). Throughout 2013 I took it lightly and didn't advance much. This year I decided to go for some discipline and actually avoid procrastination and focus more on my novel. I am proud to say I finished my first draft just now. It is a small accomplishment I know, I just feel accomplished that I actually finished it. Can’t wait for editing. Anyone has some advice before I start editing or while editing?

Small accomplishment...no...HUGE accomplishment. I've completed two first drafts myself so I know how much work goes into getting to the finishing line. CONGRATULATIONS! It's huge to finish the first draft. HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My advice to you before you start editing. Don't. Let it sit for a few weeks first. Let it be fresh and new when you read it, you'll catch more. Distance brings a certain new level of understanding.
