Anyone have a rough estimate for how long it takes for a copyright to process on a book. Taking FOR-EV-ERS. I'm starting to get hives. Lol!

I looked up the answers, and I'm not sure if they're correct. But the US Copyright website says 3-5 months or 7-10 months. But I don't know if this applies to copyright on books or what.

I can't imagine it taking that long. I have no idea how long it took to copyright When Stars Die, as that was my publisher's responsibility, but it might have taken a month, maybe? That's just an estimate, as it took seven months for my book to be published, from acceptance to release day.

My copyright was also caught in the US government shutdown and that delayed it even further. Just endless waiting, unfortunately, even though I've been in touch with the lawyers. Bloody ridiculous, actually. Starting to get anxious just waiting about. GLAH.

I've just never heard anyone waiting that long. If you get a copyright once, does it apply to all of your books? I had a friend publish about five or six of her books last year.

I must say, having read your reply I e-mailed the lawyer firm I'm using kind of like 'Seriously, something is wrong here. Please fix!' So I appreciate the feedback.

Ah! Copyright done. There had been a mix-up, clearly. I've sorted it. Am now in another cycle of review, the last of which will go through my writer/editor friend. Cover is done. Book is formatted. GLAH. A lot going on. Balancing it with writing for work, and other obligations making for a challenge! XD
