Ok! Touching down. Am totally gonna read through all the other hello's and get to know as much people as I can before the place fills up! (which it hopefully will) I live at www.bluebicblog.com and in the UK, London. I'm a lady though I don't make a very good one. I enjoy video games and anime. I like writing stories with a dystopian slant - generally a bit raw and heavy on the male protags I'm into sci-fi, fantasy, dys and anything a bit weird. Though if it catches my attention I'll read it either way. I also love donuts. PM me for my address... My main dislikes are YA (but will give something gritty a go) and I'm not a fan of batteries dying in my netbook. I've been writing for yonks. I wanna tell you I know for a FACT where I want to be in the writing world but I feel things are changing so much that I really don't. I'm sort of feeling my way about, so if you think someone's touching you up around this here forum, it's most likely me and I apologise in advance. Cheers, Shay (S.E Dee)

Greetings Shay! It's always nice to see a face from the UK over here. I've made a few friends via the internet and I just love how you guys say "Cheers," to close emails. Have you ever microwaved a donut. I highly recommend it.

Hello Shay! and welcome to our small, yet growing, group! I personally am okay with YA, but I'm curious to know why you aren't? just a curiosity and I feel dumb... but what is yonks? oo oo! and I love your display picture. It makes me weirdly giddy and I have no idea why haha Nice to meet you! - Melissa

Heya folks! Thanks for the welcome I have indeed microwaved a Krispy Kreme donut! Makes it extra sweet..... *dribble* Yonks = ages/years. (But don't quote me on ANYTHING. Ever lol) I think, at the moment, YA follows a lot of tropes that I don't enjoy. Lots of love triangles, lots of strange introspection that sometimes belittles the dangerous situations the author puts the MC or main characters in. The last YA that I really, really enjoyed was Bloodtide by Melvin Burgess. Gritty indeed. When the reviews by adults are saying things like "had no idea the book was like this, had I known I wouldn't have bought it for my kid..." you know you're in for something different! p.s My display is Abe from Abe's Oddysee. Know it?

The "Pure" series by Julianna Baggott is AMAZING. No love triangles (just hints of them) and its packed with action. I loved it. Its a post man-made apocalyptic world. The third book isn't out yet, i don't think, but I am waiting on my tip toes for it. And no, I don't know Abe's Oddysee. But it definitely looks interesting
